The Diploma in Business Administration course explains the management theory based on traditional and contemporary theories and knowledge, skills and techniques of management. It utilizes relevant case studies in our class discussion to improve student’s learning ability such as problem analysis and problem solving. The course help students develop managerial skills in confronting uncertainties, correlating rising costs of managing business and technological advancement, as well as preserving values in a highly competitive environment.

 

This diploma course is suitable for those who aspire to develop a successful business or venture in the area of business development. It is also appropriate for industry personnel who wish to reinforce their knowledge and attain a professional qualification as a booster for their career advancement.

The course aims:

  •     To master the basic functions of management such as planning, organizing, leading and controlling among others as well as their correlation.

  •     To be able to grasp and appreciate the analytical skills of management environment and method.

  •      To be able to understand the organization’s mission, vision, objectives and other management goals

  •     To be able to grasp the basic knowledge of human resource in recruitment and training.

  •     To be able to understand the theory of inspiration and the method of innovation.

The course consists of 6 modules:

  1. Principle of Management

  3. Marketing

  4. Business Communication

  5. Financial Accounting

  6. Organizational Behaviour

 

Principle of Management

This module discusses the basic function of management, it explains the basic theory and the relevant skills and knowledge, techniques of management, and combines with case studies to promote student’s ability of analyzing and problem solving skill. After completing the module, students should grasp the basic theory and technique of management; understand some historical development of theories and ideas of management; master the basic function of management such as planning, organizing, leading, controlling, etc. As well as their correlations; be able to gasp the analytical skills of management, work environment and method; know how to set up management goal; be able to grasp the basic knowledge of human resource in recruitment and training; grasp the theory of inspiration and method of innovation.

 

Human Resource Management

The main content of this module covers human resource management, introduction, planning, analysis, recruitment and employment, performance management, compensation management, training, career development, labour relationship and human resource management in a cross-culture environment. After completing the module, students should grasp the basic theory and method of human resource management, and understand the common procedure of human resource management in companies.

 

Marketing

This module explains the theory, knowledge and skills and techniques of marketing. It combines with case studies to help students build the ability to analyze problems with problem solving skills. After completing the module, students should be able to understand the basic concepts of marketing, marketing management, analysing the marketing environment, market and market research, forecasting, consumer behaviour, competitors and competition strategies. This would include marketing in a target market, product analysis, marketing strategies, pricing decision, pricing strategic choice, marketing channels, selection and management, promotions, promotion strategies, corporate identity and design, and crisis management.

 

Business Communication

This module promote the understanding of key concepts of business communication as it applies to today’s organizations. After completing the module, students will be exposed to the different frameworks of studying and understanding the various foundation of business communication and application of the three step of writing process and the crafting of brief message for reporting and oral presentation.

 

Financial Accounting

Financial Accounting covers basic theory and methodology of financial accounting. The module detailed explanation about the accounting issue in the enterprises’ daily activities, which includes accounting information, accounting and financial calculation and report, all of whom are attributed by the fluctuation of the six accounting elements - assets, liability, equity, income, cost and profit. After completing the module, students would understand and learn about the basic accounting theory and accounting method so that they could perform an accounting or financial related work in an actual business transactions in companies and be able to prepare and generate any accounting report.

 

Organizational Behaviour

Organizational behaviour  (OB) is the ‘study of human behaviour in organizational settings, the interface between human behaviour and the organization, and the organization itself’. OB  research can be categorized in at least three ways, including the study of:

  1. Individuals in organizations (micro-level)

  2. Work groups (meso-level - between micro and macro levels)

  3. How organizations behave (macro-level)

Upon completion of the module, student will have a better idea how to work alone and in group with their fellow colleague and form a strong team.
