B. Overview
The business industry continuously faces varied and dynamic challenges and opportunities. The
Diploma in Business Administration and Skills integrates modern business administration skills
and knowledge essential to efficiently manage a business or in business development.
By the main line of basic function of management, this course explains the basic theory,
knowledge and skills and techniques of management, and combines with case study to promote
student’s ability of problem analyzing and solving. The course will help students develop
managerial kills in confronting economic uncertainties, correlating rising costs of managing
business and technological advancement, as well as preserving values in a highly competitive
environment.
This diploma is suitable for those who aspire to develop a successful business or venture in the
arena of business development. It is also appropriate for industry personnel who wish to
reinforce their knowledge and attain a qualification to boost their career advancement.
C. Objective
The course aims:
a. To equip students with the basic theory and technique of management;
b. To have a knowledge on the history of the development of theories and ideas of
management;
c. To master the basic function of management such as planning, organizing and leading;
d. To equip students with the analytical skills of management environment and method;
e. To equip students with the knowledge to set up the management goal;
f. To understand the basic knowledge of human resource in recruitment and training; and
g. To understand the theory of inspiration and the method of innovation.

The course consists of 5 modules:

Principle of Management
This module equips the students with the explanation of the basic theory, knowledge, skills,
and techniques of management, and combines with case study to enhance student’s ability
of problem analyzing and solving. The module covers the following:
i. Basic theory and technique of management;
ii. History of the development of theories and ideas of management;
iii. Basic function of management such as planning, organizing, lead, control, etc. As well as
their correlations;
iv. Basic knowledge of human resource in recruitment and training; and
v. Theory of inspiration and method of innovation.
Human Resource Management
This module equip students with the basic theory and method of human resource
management, and know the common procedure of human resource management in
companies. The module covers the following:
i. Introduction to human resource management;
ii. Planning;
iii. Analysis;
iv. Recruitment and employment;
v. Performance management;
vi. Compensation management;
vii. Training and career development;
Marketing
This module equips students with the basic theory, knowledge, skills and techniques of
marketing, combines with case study to enhance student’s ability to problem analyzing and
solving. The module covers the following:
i. Basic concepts of marketing;
ii. Marketing management;
iii. Analysis of marketing environment;
iv. Market research and prediction;
v. Customer behaviour;
vi. Competitors and competition strategies;
vii. Marketing in a tight market;
viii. Product analyzing and marketing strategies;
ix. Price decision and price strategic choice; and
x. Marketing channels as well as it’s selection and management;
xi. Promotion of product and selection of promotion strategies; and
xii. Corporation identity design and treatment with the crisis when organization encountered.
xiii.Labour relationship and human resource management in a cross-culture environment.
Introduction to Statistics
This module aims to equip students with a basic knowledge and understanding of business
2statistics.
Business Communication
This module aims to promote an understanding of key concepts of business communication
as it applies to today’s organizations. Students will be exposed to the different frameworks of
studying and understanding foundation of business communication and apply the step in
writing process for crafting brief message for reporting and oral presentation.
Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurs are the creators and builders of new ventures that only fulfil their own dreams,
bring them huge fortune but also make a strong impact on the society and improve the lives
of people.
Upon successful completion of the course, you would have a good understanding of
entrepreneurship; the issues encountered on the entrepreneurial journey; and most
importantly, how you can become an entrepreneur yourself.
Specially the course covers aspects of accounting and finance essential for entrepreneurial
venture, basic concept on commercialization of technology, management of intellectual
property and entry and exit strategies.
Financial Accounting
This module equips students with detailed explanation about the accounting issue in
enterprises’ daily activities, which includes accounting confirmation, calculation and report, all
of whom are caused by the fluctuation of the six accounting elements- assets, liability, equity,
income, cost and profit. This course intends to help students learn about the basic accounting
theory and accounting method so that they can account for actual business transactions in
companies and provide the accounting report accordingly at work.
Organizational Behaviour
Organization behaviour is ‘the study of human behaviour in organization settings, the
interface between human behaviour and the organization, and the organization itself’. OB
research can be categorized in at least three(3) ways, including the study of:
1. Individuals in organizations (micro-level)
2. Work groups (meso-level)
3. How organization behave (marco-level)
Upon completion of this course, student will have a better idea how to work along with their
fellow colleague and form a strong team.

Age: At least 16 years old
Academic: Minimum 3 Passes at GCE ‘O’ Level or Completion of Secondary or High School or Equivalent
For mature candidates who does not meet the above MER, the candidate must be at least 21 years old with 5 years working experience
